Action in Rehearsal by 3four
Summary: Child prodigy and chess genius Castiel Novak is eleven years old when he meets Sam and Dean Wesson one summer in Virginia. To his surprise, Sam and Dean take naturally to chess, Dean especially. When they leave without saying goodbye, Castiel is devastated.
Fast forward seven years. Castiel’s family is in shambles. He’s bored of high school but dreads college. The only thing that gives him any pleasure at all is playing online chess against an opponent as bright and off-kilter as a boy he knew as a child…
Notes: Let me start out by saying, Castiel has a really messed up family and they all need to go to family counsaling or something pronto.
That out of the way, my feelings on this are confused. I liked it but I didn’t. I thought it was really good but then again not so much…
I thought the author didn’t explain stuff well enough. Like there were some things that, when first mentioned I kind of had an idea as to what happened but I didn’t know for sure until it was brought up again, if it was brought up again, so there were things I re-read just to try to make sense.
ALSO, I don’t think the summary is a good summary for this story, I thought that this would be a chess prodigy AU where Cas went around playing chess in competions and so did Dean and that’s how they met.
I don’t know, I can’t find the words to describe how I feel about this.
I did find the ending to be sweet.
Rating: M for mature.
Bargaining Chip by mercury-alice
Summary:War looms as a distant danger on the borders of Anglica. To ensure the kingdoms safety, Lord Zacariah arranges an alliance with a tribal clan known for their unbeatable prowess in battle. Their leader, Dean, can be a hard man to win over- luckily Zacariah’s already thought of the perfect bargaining chip: his sheltered young nephew, Castiel
Notes: Basically PWP. So lots of sex. I liked Gabriel and Balthazars teasing at the beginning.
Every Word a Piece of My Heart by smilla840
Summary:The war is over and Jimmy is finally free to go back to his family. Everything should be perfect- then why isn’t it?
Paring:Dean/Castiel, Dean/Jimmy, kind of Dean/Castiel/Jimmy
Notes:Honestly I was a little worried about this fic, possibly because of the Dean/Jimmy and kind of Castiel thing, but I ended up really liking this. I thought the whole Castiel side of this story was sad. But it ended nicely (albeit a little weirdly) but all in all I thought this was good and please don’t let the whole Dean/Jimmy thing get in your way of reading this.
Father’s Day by Stolen Childe
Summary:Father’s Day Morning
Notes:It’s just a short cute one shot based in the universe the author has created. It was adorable.
For Me This is Heaven by thunder_nari
Summary:Au based off How to Train Your Dragon
Notes:I loved the movie How to Train Your Dragon and I loved how the author used in in this AU, it was true to the movie and to the characters on the show. I loved the image of the Angels that I had.
Inevitable Homoeroticisim in Spanish Romantic Heros by prosopopeya.
Summary:Dean is a grad student studying for his MA in Spanish literature, and he’s pretty content with his sexuality as it is - that is, fairly undefined and also secret. His attraction to Castiel, a professor to the undergrads, doesn’t seem like a big deal until it becomes a very big deal, and Dean scrambles to keep his head above water.
Notes:I LOVED this! I thought it was all very real. As in everything they did seemed very human, not fictionlized human, I mean it seemed like something real humans would do/go through. That’s what I really loved about this. Gabriel had to be my favorite minor character! His antics were fantastic! I wish he had been in the story more.
Rating: E for explicit.
The Ghost of Embers by moorishflower
Summary:Dean Winchester’s life has been one big clusterfuck. He lost his mother to a house fire when he was a child, and he lost his father to an explosive car accident when he was a teen, and, now that he’s a full grown man, he’s losing his brother to college and to distant, sunny California. Dean, determined not let his pyrophobia or his anxiety over his absent brother ruin him, and desirous of a change that just might fix everything, makes the rashest move of his adult life: a largely unnecessary, almost entirely unplanned move to New York City. Stuck in the middle of a city that has a reputation for chewing up and spitting out the unprepared, Dean’s anxieties fluctuate between bad and worse… until he starts to get to know his mysterious antisocial next door neighbor, Castiel. But mystery isn’t always a good thing; Castiel is hiding a secret… a secret that even cynical Dean Winchester might have trouble believing.
Paring:Kind of Dean/Castiel and kind of Dean/Jimmy
Notes:I was excited for this fic, then I wasn’t, then I was. It fluxuated. I kept going because I wanted to know what happened! I thought the ending was sweet and all in all I’m glad I read this.
The Mirror by CloudyJenn
Summary:When Dean touches a strange mirror, he’s whisked away to one alternate reality after another and it doesn’t take him long to realize the universe is trying to tell him something.
Notes:I’ve actually had this up to read a few different times, then decided that I didn’t feel like reading it. Well, I finally read it and I’m glad I did. I thought it was really cool, all the different universes the author came up with, because I don’t think I could have done that.
The Precision of the Fall by behindblue_eyes
Summary:They used to be called The Family Winchester. People came from miles around to see their act, knowing their names and faces before the circus even rolled into town. Life was shiny with salt and sawdust, sequins and smiles. Now, all that was left were a few crumpled posters, an empty bunk next to Dean’s, and the leather-gripped knives hidden in the trick pockets of his vest.
Paring:Dean/Castiel, Sam/Ruby, Sam/Jessica
Notes:I loved this! I thought the author did a good job describing the circus and everyone’s part in it. And the knife throwing had me on edge. Oh this was good. The only thing that bugged me (And it’s really, really minor) Is the fact that I couldn’t figure out what the year was.
Skinny Dipping by brorotica
Summary: On a hot summer night, Dean and Castiel decide to go for a skinny dip at the local pool. Unfortunately, something else had the same idea.
Notes:Oh my goodness! This was creepy! Good, but really fucking creepy and just, gah, I don’t even know! I recommend it! But, I don’t know, read it while in a tub, or pool, or with the lights turned off while you’re sitting at your desk?
Rating: Not Rated (there is some sex, and a bit of gore.)
Stay on Your Man by quote_ofthexday
Summary:Sam and Dean play for the varsity West water polo team. When they play their rivals, South, Dean is confronted by a player who doesn’t just match him in skill, but also in aggression.
Notes:Basically this is a lot of sex. I liked the beginning because of how rough Dean and Cas were with each other, which led to one really hot sex scene but after that they calmed down and I didn’t find it that great anymore. And I don’t think this is finished? I’m not sure.
Rating: R but I think it’s more of a NC-17
Untitled by daggomus_prime
Summary:Four times Sam walked in on Dean and Cas having sex and one time he didn’t.
Notes:This isn’t a fic per say, it’s a cartoon. It’s on here, because I found it absolutely hilarious! How Sam reacts every time and the looks on Dean and Cas’ face are hilarious!
Rating: NC-17! Penises everywhere in this
Untitled by sammichforsammy
Summary:Dean gets detention and just sits there tapping his pencil. He’s not going anything wrong but just his presence is driving Cas mad.
Notes: I’m not a huge teacher/student person but I do love when Cas has control and this was pretty hot without much happening.
Welcome to Oz by bauble
Summary:(This is mine) Dean and Cas are stuck in this weird town that is pretty much perfect and is on top of a cliff.
Notes:I thought this started off really light hearted and sweet, with them adjusting to living there and you’re sitting there like “aww this is cute.” and you expect all the chapters to be like that pretty much. Then about half way or more then that it’s like “BAM! FEELS” and then you’re sitting there like “What? What? What?” And then it ends on a cliff hanger, and then you end up sitting there like “wasn’t expecting that.”
Well that’s how I felt. It was good, I just wasn’t expecting it to get so deep.
Rating: NC-17 at some parts, mainly G.
